Liberty University: connect your classes to your study plan.

Independent support for students in the M.A. Clinical Mental Health Counseling. Start with your current syllabus, then use this guide to organize the concepts that connect across courses.

This is not an official university page or degree audit. Course labels are shortened from public curriculum information. Confirm course requirements, delivery format, catalog year, and approved resources with your program.

Start with the course you’re taking now.

Write down its number, this week’s learning objectives, and the ideas you need to explain without your notes. Separate a reading task from a learning outcome: “read the theory chapter” is a task; “explain how the theory understands change” is an outcome.

Build three connections each week.

  1. A concept: define one idea in your own words and give an example.
  2. A distinction: compare it with a similar concept and explain how you would tell them apart.
  3. An application: apply it to a fictional scenario, name what is unknown, and identify a question for class or supervision.

Useful course starting points

Keep exam preparation connected to coursework.

After a class topic, answer a few original practice questions and explain why the alternatives do not fit. Keep a list of reasoning errors: confusing terms, overlooking a fact, adding an assumption, or applying a rule without context. Use your examination’s current official outline to plan broader coverage.

CPCE, NCE, and NCMHCE are different examinations. A single practice score here cannot establish readiness for any of them. Your program and the examining organizations determine eligibility, procedures, and requirements.

A sustainable weekly rhythm

Use two short concept sessions, one application session, and one review session. Revisit earlier material after a delay. When a lesson is unclear, use the confusion to form a specific question for your reading or instructor.
